Music Video History Project
A few years ago I wrote a paper about music video history for college.
While most of the music video world is concerned with the promotion of a song some directors consider their creations artistic endeavors. Music videos are short enough to have an impact yet long enough to allow for the construction of a coherent story. There are components every music video must contain but there are countless paths a director might take to achieve balance between promotion of the artist and expression of the music. (Fauser 2008)
I always wanted to expand it :)
I will start by making a rough outline of topics and songs I wish to cover and we will go from there using these ideas as chapters in BLASTEDGOAT’S MUSIC VIDEO HISTORY PROJECT!
- My favorite videos of all time
- Coolest conceptual videos
- Performance/promotional videos (expansion of original thesis)
- Death of the music video?
- Rebirth of the music video
- Worst music videos EVER!
- Best lyrics/worst lyrics
- Strangest videos/artists
Tell me what kind of subjects you would like to see covered in the comments! I will provide links to each song via YouTube video. This means the links could become outdated if copyright issues occur with a specific user but I will try to keep them as updated as possible.
